The climate of the region is tropical resulting in very high temperature in the months of April and May. On the contrary, the Eastern Ghats of the state experience an extremely cold climate

Education
Orissa was one of the developing state in India. After independence Orissa is improving & competing with other states of India to become a prosperous state in the field of education. The literacy percentage of orissa is improving highly. Cuisine
Orissa follows a food pattern that is somewhat similar to the neighboring states. Rice, the staple food is paired with vegetables.

Due to their deeply religious culture, most of Oriya people practice vegetarianism. But a significant proportion of population yet relishes fish and other sea food delicacies like prawns, crabs and lobsters that are found in plenty at the vast coastline of the state. Cooked with little or absolutely no oil, Oriya food has a less calorific value.

Along with curd and coconut milk, people are very fond of sweets as well
Culture
Culture is the main system of any state and it depand on the situation of that palace. Every state has its own culture. Culture of Orissa makes different it from other state of India. Orissas cultural dance Odissi is most famous classic dance of India. The culture of the Adivasis is an integral part of modern Orissan heritage. Odissi music is usually classified as a kind of Hindustani classical music of northern India.
History
The history of Orissa dates back to antiquity, its most famous old names being Kalinga, Utkal and Odra, when its boundary extended far beyond the present one. By the time of the Mahabharata Kalinga, Utkal and Odra had entered into Aryan polity as powerful kingdoms. Frequent reference is made to Kalinga in the Mahabharata and infrequent references to Odra and Utkal. By the time of Mahavir and Buddha, the Kalinga-Utkal region on the entire east coast of India acquired recognition and fame.
Language
Oriya is the principal and regional language of Orissa. Belonging to the Aryan family of languages, it is closely related to Assamese, Bengali and Maithili. Under the influence of neighboring regional languages of the Aryan and Dravidian families, Oriya has developed many linguistic variations, such as Baleswari (Balasore), Bhatri (Koraput), Laria (Sambalpur), etc.
Literature
Oriya Literature - Said to have developed from Sanskrit and Ardha-Magadhi ( a kind of Prakrit) literatures - now a distinctly separate branch of modern Indian literature. Oriya poetry flourished through the writings of Sarala Das, sunyavadi panchasakha poets (Jaganatha Das and others). Upendra Bhanja ( ritiyuga), Radhanatha roy (modern) and Sachidananda Routrouy ( post - modern).
Religion
The major population of Orissa are Hindus, followed by the Muslims, Christians and Buddhists. The tribal religion of Sarana can also be found here. Within the Hindu community also, there is a great diversity. It includes a number of castes like Brahmins, Karans, Kshatriyas, etc.
