Climate
Mizoram gets a good rainfall. During rains the climate in the lower hills is humid and enervating. Malarial fever was a common feature during and after rains particularly in the lower area. It is quite cool and pleasant on the higher hills, even during the hot season. A special feature of the climate here is the occurrence of violent storms during March-April. Heavy storms come from the north-west and they sweep over the hills in the entire state.

Rainfall is generally evenly distributed. The crops seldom suffer from drought. Mizoram, as a whole, gets an average rainfall of about 3,000 mm with Aizawal town having 2,380 mm and Lunglei 3,178 mm.
Education
Mizoram follows a uniform system of education i.e. the 10+2 system. The state has one central university, one government engineering college and several professional colleges providing education in the field of pharmacy and nursing etc.
Cuisine
The Mizoram cuisine offers mainly non-vegetarian delicacies. The people who belong to this place do eat vegetables, but they prefer to add some non-vegetarian ingredients to each and every dish they prepare.

One of the main specialties of the food of Mizoram is that it is very different from the food available in other parts of the country of India other than the north-east.
Culture
The people of Mizoram Sociable, hospitable and fun loving with very strong community bonds-the Mizos are often referred to as the Songbird of the North east. This reputation is well entrenched as they are considered to be one of the finest choir singers in North east India.
History
The history of Mizoram is by the origin of the Mizos, like those of many other tribes in the North Eastern India is shrouded in mystery. The generally accepted as part of a great Mongoloid wave of migration from China and later moved out to India to their present habitat.

It is possible that the Mizos came from Shinlung or Chhinlungsan located on the banks of the river Yalung in China. They first settled in the Shan State and moved on to Kabaw Valley to Khampat and then to the Chin Hills in the middle of the 16th century.
Language
Mizo is the official language of Mizoram, Mizo itself means highlander. The language is also known as Lushai.

Religion
The major population of Mizoram are Christians. This Christian heritage is shared by a majority in the nearby states of Nagaland and Meghalaya, and by a large minority in neighbouring Manipur. The Chakma practice Theravada Buddhism, mixed with elements of Hinduism and Animism.
