Climate
Manipur is blessed with a clean climate round the year. The state has two main seasons separated by two transitions: the winter season and the monsoon season.

The winter season is from December to February. Then is the Pre-Monsoon season in the months of March and April. Then the monsoon season is there from the month of May to September, and the last is the Post-Monsoon season in the month of October and November.
Education
Manipur is home to a large number of quality schools, colleges and universities. These centers of learning make Manipur one of hotspots for students of the north east. Manipur also boosts of Manipur university- the chief institution in the state. The Manipur University came into existence on June 5, 1980. It is constituted under the Manipur University Act, 1980 (Manipur Act No VIII of 1980). The Varsity which has jurisdiction all over the state of Manipur has affiliated colleges and 3 permitted colleges situated at different parts of the state.
Cuisine
Manipur has a varied cuisine. It is difficult to set the gastronomy of the people. Predominantly, they are rice eaters with a definite tilt towards meat. They use simply boiled or steamed food with very little cooking oil. No dried spices are used. They add ginger, garlic, and bamboo shoots to their dishes for flavor. Vegetarian thali is very popular here. The eromba is a special fish delicacy of Manipur. It is made of fermented fish and bamboo shoot with chillies, boiled vegetables and potato. The drink, shekmai made in a village with the same name, is a famous country wine of the state.
Culture
Manipur identifying itself to the world through its rich art and culture, presenting a mosaic of traditional and cultural patterns has, through the ages, preserved its own distinct tradition of art and culture.

Dance and music run in the blood of the Manipuri people. They are so inextricably woven into the pattern of her life that in this cultural rich state it is, indeed, rare to see anyone who cannot dance or sing. Love of art and beauty started from the tender age of Manipuris.

Arts and culture in Manipur are not only merely entertainment and decoration but also a part of the life. Apart from happiness and merry making there are significant facets of religious expression, a form of worship and prayer, associated closely with the life of the people.
History
Manipur has population of two groups, the people who inhabit the hills called the Nagas and those who inhabit the valley called the Meiteis. The hills are also inhabited by the group called the Kukis. Imphal is the political capital of Manipur. The earliest recorded history dates to 900 AD. In the course of its history there have been several invasions from Myanmar (Burma), which borders with Manipur and numerous clashes with the Nagas.
Language
Manipuri language is spoken in parts of, Manipur, Assam, Tripura in India ,in Bangladesh, in Burma and other overseas countries. The language was originally confined to the surroundings of the Lake Loktak in Manipur. The principal localities where this language was spoken are now known as Khangabok, Heirok, Mayang Yamphal, Bishnupur, khunan, Ningthankhong, Ngakhong,
Literature
Manipuri literature can be broadly divided into two periods namely ancient Folk-Bishnupriya Manipuri literature and modern Bishnupriya Manipuri literature.

The general trend of writings was spiritual rather than secular and creative. The post modern writers have given up many time-honored conventions. They have come to contact with English, French and German literature with are rich in all respects. There is also the influence of contemporary Bangla, Hindi, Assmese and Manipuri Meitei literature of Bangladesh, West-bengal, Assam, Tripura and Manipur.
Religion
The Manipuri Religion is said to be the oldest organized religion of south-east Asia.

Manipuri religion is Open, Universal in outlook and without any founder prophet or any holy book. The deeply philosophical Manipuri religion propounds the universal concept of equality of mankind that all human made on the image of God, in other words all human are made equal since there is only one creator.
