Gadkalika Temple
Gadkalika temple is an ancient temple is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Kaali. It is believed that the poet Kalidasa worshipped the image of Kaali present in this shrine. The temple was renovated by the Indian emperor Harshavardhana, in the 7 AD, and later by the Parmers. It is situated about 2 miles from Ujjain, and it is located near the Bhartrihari Caves.
Harsiddhi Temple
Harsiddhi Temple consists of an image of Goddess Annapurna, who is supposed to be the fulfiller of all human wishes. Therefore it is also known as the Harisiddhi, where Hari in Hindi means Lord Vishnu and Siddhi in Hindi means Success.
Mahakaleshwar
Mahakaleshwar is a glorious temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas has been consecrated here which makes it one of the most important temples of Lord Shiva. The temple is divided into 5 levels. One of these levels is underground. The way to this section of the temple is lit up with Brass lamps. The Shikhara is impressively decorated with sculpted finery which gives the temple an out of this world charm.
Kal Bhairava Temple
Kal Bhairava temple is located on the bank of river Shipra and the attractive part of the temple is the idol where the offerings are done with liquor on special events. Kal Bhairava is the temple where witchcrafts. Eight Bhairavas are worshipped and the temple was built by the king Bhairava. The temple is very famous among Kapalika and Aghora.
Bhartrihari Caves
Bharatrihari caves are situated just above the bank of the Shipra near the temple of Gadkalika. According to popular tradition, this is the spot where Bhartrihari, who is said to have been the step brother of Vikramaditya, lived and meditated after renouncing worldly life. He is believed to have been a great scholar and poet. His famous works, Shringarshatak, Vairagyashatak, and Nitishatak, are known for the exquisite use of the Sanskrit meter. These caves are situated just above the bank of the Shipra near the temple of Gadkalika.
Vikram Kirti Mandir
Vikram Kirti Mandir serves as the cultural center to immortalize the memory of King Vikramaditya. The center also has the Scindia Oriental Research Institute that has more than 18,000 rare manuscripts in different fields, an archaeological museum, an art gallery and an auditorium. It was established on the occasion of second millennium of Vikram era.
